https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide. by. Édouard Manet
Recently, the most interesting issue of social problems  is 'Suicide'. Korean society is a fierce competitive society. These competitive society has developed the economy, culture, politics etc. in Korea. However, the never-ending push for achievement also has a dark side. In addition, the excessive competition was so sick the Korean society. It may lead to personal, social depression, and result in a personal selfishness. Eventually, these extreme competition lead up to suicide. According to the research, the recorded suicide rate-around 22 per 100,000 people-is the highest in the 'OECD nations'.

Criticism about suicide of Korea

Korea which ranks to the most economic power around the world is faced with these contradictions. Koreans on the surface look happy, but in fact it is not so. For example of youth culture, young people in Korea have a higher performance compared to the world youth. However, Korea education is required a fierce competition, so happiness of the youth is low. In fact, despite received high grades, they may have committed suicide because of the surrounding pressure(ex. entrance examination, anxiety etc...).
As in these examples, causes of suicide are diverse. However, we tend to ignore that it is not in our problem. We must recognize that suicide problem not only is a personal thing, but also is a social problem. Beyond the recognition, we need to find the solution that is able to overcome the suicide problem and should strive in order to reduce the suicide.
