 4.19 Movement

This historical event occured in 1960.  Korea's first president, Seung Man Lee, was almost dictatorial ruler. Lee's policy was very partial and undemocratic. For example, government couldn't punish the Japanophile, who helped Japan to plunder Korea, and Lee amended the law thoughtlessly to expand his regime forever. In same condition, he commited a rigged election. The rulling party drove oppositon party's observer and manipulated the result of election. This kind of anti- democratic intervention made citizen angry. So people participated in demonstrations violently. Many people were offended or died, or tortured. However, as a result of 4.19 revolution, president Lee resigned the presidency.
