We learned gender stratification. Gender stratification means gender inequality. Gender stratification is the situation where members of one gender are advantaged on the basis of their sexual identities. Gender stratification may lead discrimination. Mostly, males are more advantaged than women. And sexual minorities are usually even more disadvantaged. Gender role is a set of social and behavioral norms that are generally considered appropriate for either a man or a woman in a social or interpersonal relationship.
What other gendered cultural symbols can we think of?
Gendered cultural symbols is made by stereotype. People think that there are female jobs and male jobs. But it doesn't exist. For example, people think that nurse is female job. Of course, a lot of women want to be a nurse. But men may want to be. That is, we guess that the job is which gender. It is discrimination. We must change our mind. It is difficult to change endered symbols immediately. We effort to change stereotype.
