Economics: "How different forces affect economy?"
vs
Sociology "How different forces(including economy) affect society?"
Sociology is more comprehensive than economics. But Economics is more detailed than sociology.

In that period, world has suffered from World War I and World war II. So in that period, people wouldn't be friendly in foreign people and goods. They would be doubtful. And during two rounds of World Wars, global economy has gone bad.
