MAIN TOPIC : Elements of Social Organization : Government

 I learned about "Government" in class this week. I was especially interested in "Political". Political systems are organized around four major bases of power in society : Coercive, Symbolic, Administrative, Incentive. I don't know that incentive is also major bases of power in society. Government uses incentives to encourage or discourage specific behaviors. For example, government establish a law in order to control criminal act. This can be say a kind of incentive.

Topic 1 : Extra credit assignment - Find one of the symbols of Korea used public, photograph it and upload to wikimidea commons.

  I think one of the symbol of Korea is tiger. Tiger is animal of represent Korea. Because tiger has advented a lot of fable, painting and so on. A Korea tiger is not savage beast, but familiar animal for Korean ancestor. The right painting name is <Magpie and Tiger>. This painting is called "painting called fortune". Our ancestor thought magpie bring the good news, and tiger defeat the bad aura. So they was used to attach this painting on the door.
 These reasons, tiger is one of the symbol of Korea. To this day, many Korea scholar research about a Korea tiger and try to find out real Korea tiger. Even now, meaning of Korea tiger not change, so our ethnic group like them.

Topic 2 : Is modern democracy really "the will of the people"?

 My answer is "NO". Modern democracy is represent democracy. These way is indispensability. Because direct democracy has been difficult to apply to large country, because it is very difficult for a lot of people to debate and decision something. So modern democracy is not the will of the people. Modern democracy is measure for efficiency and economical. However, with the appear of the Internet and technology, today direct democracy is practicable in some degree.


 As study about government, I think that Korea have some political problem. The solution about the problem is attention of people. So I reflect on myself that indifferent on our country's political. In this way, this week lecture is a useful experience.:)
