What is sociology? (5) - Lim Ji Hyun(임지현)

  In this week, our class talked about 'economy'. 'Economy' is very hard notion, so It was very hard to understand about economy. But after I had a debate on economy with my classmate, I could easily understand economy. We discussed many topics about 'economy', and it was very interesting. And I will choose two topics that are most interesting to blog.



Topic 1. How will the technology change our lives in the future?

  Today, technology has great influence on our lives. Therefore, we can easily predict that technology change our lives in the future. In the future, a technological advance improves people's quality of living. For example, we can think about develop of computer. Develop of computer helps people to easily communicate and to simply take new knowledge. So, many people think that computer is very useful and even they say that they can't live without computer. Therefore, we can say that develop of computer is useful. But, there isn't just advantage. Today, many people have computer toxicosis and health problem(ex. scoliosis, turtle neck syndrome...) because of develop of computer. So, we can know the fact that our lives can be helpful thanks to technology, but our lives can be harmful because of technology.

 Topic 2. What happens when the oil runs out all?

When I was high school student, I learned about 'world geography'. So, I am interested in the topic 2 (about world oil). I knew that there are very many oil in Middle East area and oil is biased resources. Therefore, many countries except Middle East area can't easily take oil. As a result, oil is easily exhausted. If oil runs out all, we have many terrible troubles. First, we can't drive car. we need oil to drive our car. Second, if oil runs out in Middle East area, Middle East country economy have difficulty. Therefore, world economy will be dangerous. Third, if oil runs out, we have to develop alternative energy(ex. wind power, solar heat, water power...). We will need enormous financial affairs and labor to develop new alternative energy. Oil is necessary resources in our lives. Therefore, we must probably spend hard time without oil.
