Is modern democracy really the will of the people? -by 김영재 Kim Yeong Jae

Is modern democracy really the will of the people?

I think it is not. Although I have not voted ever, I have seen a news and newspaper. So I know that there are many problems of South Korea's Democracy. When the Koreans are 20 years old, they get the right to vote. But too many twenties have not voted when there are elections. Then why? Why the twenties(also many thirties) have not voted? I think that It is because of several problems of Korea.

First, I think that Every twenties in Korea has right to vote, BUT many Korean twenties are not concerned about politics. Then, why they are not concerned about politics? That's because even if they vote, their lives will not be affected by voting. So they don't have attention to election.

Second, many Korean politicians and parties do not keep their's election pledges when they are elected. When there is election, many politicians are up for election. And then, they promise some pledges. However the problem is the after election. After some politicians are elected, they must keep their's pledges which they promised before. But they do not(although we can't know that it is intentional or not). Election pledges are very important thing at the election because people choose politicians who to support by their pledges. Therefor It is nonsense to violate pledges.

In this situation, It is right to say that modern democracy is the real the will of the people? I think that is not.
