This week, I learned "Economy through sociological lenses". I studied economy when I was high school student. But then I didn't know that connection between economy and sociology so deeply. These are very interdependence and influence each other. The case of "Agricultural revolution", "Industrial revolution", "Information revolution" are an example.
Agricultural revolution made much more complex than hunter-gather, and led to differences in social stratification systems. Industrial revolution led to a new major change in economy. This also greatly effect social. Finally, information revolution made "Ideas are products.". Literacy skills more important then mechanical skills.(e.g. 3D printing). This economical change led social change too.
Like this, the lecture give me sociological standpoint about economy.

Topic 1 : Why is descending the line in this graph?
This graph show about trade globalization. As time goes on, average openness trade globalization's degree increase. But 1917, 1947 plunge in down. I wondered why is so descending the line. The reason is WORLD WAR. World war 1,2 made protective trade privately of the Allied Forces. So trade globalization decrease.
Topic 2 : It is estimated that world's supply of oil will run out within about 50 years. What consequences may it have on our society?
This graph includes world energy consumption by fuel historical and projected. As you can see natural gas and other renewables importance increase. So I think we find the way about oil's exhaustion by developing alternative energy. For example, solar energy already is used many houses and public buildings. Also bio energy is used extensively by eco energy. The above graph could not show after 2030, but the after 2030 natural gas and other renewables more develop so many people will use too.
This lecture give me some opportunity think about economy and social. Nevertheless this topic comprehensive, I see the more wide view by chance. So I look forward next lecture. :)
I also think that World war decreased global trade. and like you said that it 's because of protective trade between allied nations. But i am still curiops about the fact that it decreased so much. Even during the war, countries in war need guns and supplies, so they may need to trade more often i think. what do you think about this?
