Last class, we learned about ‘Power and Government.’ We are controled by power. Sometime the power take on coercion. Government have this power. Government is appeared bureaucracy. And we learned about many government’s roles.

Lecture on Monday, we learned incentive systems. Professor explained those systems to help our understanding. For example, Korean government gives incentive to parents has 3 or 4 babies for encouraging childbirth and developed countries children are tax deductible. In this part, we are questioned.
[ What other things are tax deductible? ]

Lecture on Tuesday, we leaned ‘Democracy.’ In this part, we are also questioned.
[ Is modern democracy really “the will of the people”? ]
I think, modern democracy is “really the will of people”. But, It was valid when ‘people’ have meaning that few man having power. Democracy is developed for all people, but it is led to few people. Everyone wanted to make democracy, but it is made small opinion of many people and large power of few people. Modern democracy is new rule system rather than real democracy.
[ Would you like to have more say in the political decision making? ]

Yes. I want to have more say in that. It is not enough that we participate in election and have suffrage. We must demand more oppotunity to participate politics. I don’t know politics well but saying my opinion is better than silence. I heard that silence is tacit agreement. Because if I say nothing that disagree opinion, that is wrong behavior.

Until now lecture, I have many difficulty to understanding. I realized that I was indifferent government and politics. I blamed government’s mistake but I didn’t know their role well. I feel mean what I have done. I will have to more interesting for politics.

I agree that Korea's power is mostly into few powerful people's hands. But compared to the past democracy, today people who don’t have much power can get what they want much easier than the past. So it is not all true that the modern democracy is not the will of the people.
