Intro
I listened 'Invitation to Sociology' lecture of three weeks. Teaching and learning sociology that has been deepening than learned the general public at the time of high school was interesting. In this week's lecture, I learned the value of culture, value of religion, the value of the economy and government. I was considered to be difficult to obtain because the somewhat comprehensive theme. However, labeling theory and deviant behavior learned during the lecture, the result of an effort to access about sociology, it is possible to understand the course content as a whole. Introduces the theoretical point of view from now, to write my thoughts about the themes discussed in class.
My thoughts of theoretical perspectives.
Theory related scholars |
We learned 'theoretical perspectives'. Examples learned in class time, Structural functionalism, conflict paradigm, symbolic interactionism and so on......
The first, theoretical point of view is a (Structural) functionalism. This theory, Durkheim and Spencer had originated in the 19th century. To summarize the lecture content, a social entity can be viewed as an organism. For example, students educated at school, adults to work at work. Why I say whether citing such examples, as they had followed the role assumed in society, it is because he made the social integration.

The second, theoretical point of view is a conflict paradigm. In conflict paradigm, most prominent scholars is Marx. He stressed that social behavior is best explained as the process of conflict. To summarize the lecture content, where that functionalist theories focus on how parts of the system work together, conflict theories focus on the conflicts between those parts. For example, economy is developed, it became totally enrich our lives. However, rich and beggar was appeared as the economic difference becomes larger. Therefore, I think it unfair for the distribution of wealth in conflict paradigm.

The third, theoretical point of view is a symbolic interactionism. In symbolic interactionism, most memorable scholar is Simmel. He interested in how individuals interacted with one another, a micro approach. To summarize the lecture content, the social place is ultimately composed of individual people interacting with each other. For example, I think people can meet easily in daily life (friends, family, neighbors etc.) communication with, and it is symbolic interaction activities to share ideas with each other. Thus, symbolic interaction theory emphasis on activities that share the idea of communication and each other face-to-face.

review of my opinion on the topic that has been discussed in the lecture.
Topic : Can we think of examples of cultures that were not tolerated in korea in the past but became accepted in recent years?
The first, I think that it's women's human rights. From the Joseon Dynasty through to the modern, human rights of women in Korea has been thoroughly ignored. For example, women did not eat the rice together in a family to each other, women have no right study, was not even say. I think was good that women's human rights has been improved. Because authoritatively women is the presence of human, it is because it is possible to enjoy natural rights of man.

The second, I think that it's homosexual love. Although there are provisions of the law that prohibits homosexual love, recently society of the Republic of Korea is showing the attitude of tolerance for a homo.(Although it is not recognized homosexuality in korea, in some other countries, it is admitted homosexuality.) For example, the coming out the famous director in recent cinema world or actor in the entertainment world and the coming out, it is possible to see a lot of a homo even around. I take a non-judgmental attitude toward homosexuals. Because it once you ignore the gay and lesbian, its identity will be confusion.

After an assignment
When I finished this week's challenge, it was an opportunity to re-organize the point of view of sociological theory. Also, I got a lesson that could be looked at society from a variety of perspectives. Week of challenge can be a lot of thinking about sociological.
Thank you for listening!!
I agree your opinion. And I think your opinion is very reasonable. Especially second idea is novel example. In past, homosexual love was shunned by all. At that time, people thought homosexual love is an intrinsic moral evil. But now people
ReplyDeletejust a little accept it. Person's thinking don't change in a day. I think Although we may not accept homosexual love, we have no qualification for criticizing them.
Wow...you have great understanding of the lesson. I agree your second example but Korea is still not well recognized for homosexuality.
