What is sociology(3)-Sung an-Cho(조성안)

Prologue

 I took 'Invitation to sociology' third lecture on Monday,and Tuesday. At that time, we have learned about 'Theoretical perspectives' and 'Values'(of culture,religion,economy and government).
 Especialy, 'Theroetical sociology' was familiar thing because of high school educaton progress. Structual Functionalism, Conflict paradigm, and Symbolic interactionism. And I thought that Conflict paradigm is most interesting and fits reality. Because humans always wanted peace, that means humans' conflict has existed all the time. And most of people has conflicted all the time for money,power and honor(these 3 things are limited and valuable).
 So we discussed about the topic: How inequallity in classroom can affect students' behavior?

 In classroom, students have to obey the instructor's order. And if students don't follow the order, then they will be punished(Mokery,Violence...and so on). So if students have question like "I know that most of things teacher saying is right. But why?", but they can't ask question and just do what they have to do. And even the instructor said wrong thing, most of students can't say "No." "I don't agree about that sir(or ma'am).". This phenomenon has existed not only in classroom but also in every society. For example in workplace, the superior has power that can order his inferior to do everything. If the inferior one don't to what his ordered, then he can be fired or ristricted to promotion. Even if the inferior has better ability in working, the superior just say his inferior "Hey you! Just give me a cup of coffee. Quick!"

 

 But in other point of view, the inequallity can make society more safe. In classroom,the instructors's power can make classroom well-ordered. If students making noise, or doing another distracting things in class then saying "Pay attention please!" is good method to recovering students' attention.

  In society of absolute equallity, there can be lots of problem like criminal,mass violence..and so on. So there should be a leader(not a boss saying "Quick coffee!") to make society be in good order and safe.
