We learn culture. Culture has many definition. Also, we learned about belief, norm, language, technology, subculture, deviance. Subculture is a group of people within a culture which differentiates them from the larger culture. So subculture couldn't be accepted. It was ignored by larger culture. Also, at first something is subculture, but it could become a larger culture.

 

 

 

 

Can we think of examples of cultures that were not tolerated in Korea in the past but became accepted in recent years?

 

 

 

First, it is mini skirt. In 1970s, mini skirt could not be accepted. Because at that time people could not think that women show his legs and knee. The police with ruler examined the length of women's skirt. To avoid regulation, some women wore mini skirt with long flesh colored skirt. But now this regulation don't exist. Someone has the freedom of clothing. So it had remained episode in 1970s.

 

 

 

 

 

Second, another similar regulation existed in 1970s. There was a time when they restricted men from having long hair. The man with long hair must have his hair cut short. In past, it was unfair but fair. In terms of now, it is very unreasonable. Person has freedom of hair. So now we have no regulation about hair.

 

 

 

 

 

Third, I think that tattoo is also example. In old times, most people thought that people with tattoo are gangsters. But tattoo does not only gangsters but also the general public. Of course, tattoo is not accepted perfectly. In Korea, doctors must operate tattoo. So the government is considering a tattoo treatment that has been prohibited by law legalize. But several persons begin to do tattoo to show their personality. Now tattoo is not gangster' exclusive property. Just it is means of individual personality.
