‘sociology of Religion’

 

1. Introduced

 

When the last lesson, we learned about religion sociology. The class came to me interesting. Because I also have a religion. Question of the last class is "the function and role of religion?" Was this. I was also thinking through these questions. “Religion is what a certain function and role to me?”

 

 

 

 

2. Good and Bad function of religion .

 

Religion has harmony, and the function of integration.

 Religion can serve to gather the people. Because It gives to help to harmonize their opinions.

In the past, dynasty also to integrate the people into one, have specified a national religion.

 For example, it is one that Silla and Unified Silla, Goryeo was specified the religion Buddhism.

 

Also, religion is an important factor as culture.

 Some people decide to eat and wear on the basis of religious beliefs. These things are also making a single culture gathered. (Here is an example of a Muslim.)

Religion is also an important roots of the people.

 'All people have the freedom of religion' items that are specified in Korea Constitution.

Thus, we can know. That religion is give help to find the roots of their own.

 

But religion is not always to the function of the unity and integration.

Conversely, religion is also a function of disputes and conflicts. For a long time, between the state and the country, and between man and man were in a religious conflict.

It is because that Kind of religion is very diverse. Each people have different God.

And, they were also able to fight for their own God. For example, The Crusades took place at 11 ~ 13C. And, The religious wars took place at 16 ~ 17C. Sometimes, Strong religious fervor of the people gave rise to brutal war.

 

3. I think...

As in Korea Constitution, there is freedom of religion to anyone people. Through the religion, sometimes we making cultures and can harmonize with other people. Religion is so much one of the most important elements of society. However, religious conflict also recently has continued.

I think I do not believe in coercive religious. Where aim of most of the religion, is love and peace. Therefore, people must love harmonize with each other via a religion
