Can we think of examples of cultures that were not tolerated in Korea in the past but
became accepted in recent years?
"Past X, present O"
1. The Ordinance Prohibiting Topknots
Korea (Joseon) is a Confucian country.
korean need to cherish the body
man do not cut hair and made topknot
but, Go-Jong(Korea King) make a law the ordinance prohibiting topknots
because Short hair is easy to work and good for health.
In other words, it start a modern reform of Korea
but people did not like it.
Nevertheless, it enforce the law.
now, man has short hair
2. Man go to kitchen
In Confucianism, man's work and women's work are separated.
man work outside house, woman work housework
so, man didn't go to kitchen
this rule have been broken in these day.
because family size is smaller and here are many working couples in our society.
So many men cook in the kitchen.
Many men also are working chefs
"Current X ,Future O " ??????
(This is my subjective opinion.)

ReplyDeletein past korean history. we considered our hair as a heritance of our parents so we didnt cut it in any situation. 2 is interesting opinion and i totally agree. regardless of change of society aspect, i think man these days should have ability to cook for their family or loved one. And i saw documentary about Norway. in Norway, public TV program shows scene of people taking addict drug or people who are naked. and they think they can have control of it and sex criminal rate is low because TV shows that directly and frankly.
