Intro
Religion |
In this week class, I heard the lesson about sociology of religion. Through the process of comparing the religion and other research, it was interesting to investigate the religion of function. Have been discussed religion of function in class, I learned that there is no be ignored from social and political aspects. Now, I will introduce my perspective of religious function, to introduce my opinion on the topic that was discussed in class.
Topic 1 : my perspective of religious function
First, based on the theoretical point of view I have learned in the last week, will be summarized my thoughts of religious function. (Functionalism, Conflict paradigm.)
Let's look at the function of the religion from the Functional principle point of view. The members of the community can be coupled into the moral community. Thing of course is faith in God and going to have a religion, trust and mutual understanding of the other party in the religious populations beyond the religious dimension, can feel the bonds also social. For example, worship if you go to church, a collection of small groups, through the Bible camp activities, each other it is possible to feel the solidarity and a sense of unity as promised friendship. Therefore, I think it's a big driving force behind religion to live a communal life.
<If you want to know more about a theory, should be connected.> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sociology_of_religion
Let`s look at the function of religion from the Conflict paradigm point of view. When you look at religious functions from a functional standpoint, it has been emphasized some of the positive side, when you see directly from the conflict paradigm, emphasizing some of the negative aspects. If you look from conflict theory point of view, religion is socialization the dominant values and norms, and to justify the inequality of society. For example, it can be cited a Hindu doctrine of maintaining the caste of India. During high school, I learned about the caste system of Hinduism. I think the caste system is religious authority for maintaining their own power, and that it is irrationally created system in order to control the people. Therefore, from the perspective of conflict paradigm, I think religion is recognized the power of authority, it means to maintain power.
Topic 2: Why Muslim don`t eat pork?
The first reason that Islamic people do not eat pork is because is forbidden in the Koran. Koran had a major impact on the lives of Muslim people. In addition to that you do not eat pork, Polygamy, equality worship, the war for the missionary etc...., the Koran was affecting the life of the Islamic people. If there is a Koran of Islam, Christianity is the Bible.
The second reason that pig can not be a nomadic life and not be able to attend driving a long distance. In addition, pig it is impossible to breeding under the climatic strong sunlight. In such a situation, people who eat pork are that very rare. If eating pork, it is also possible to have construction discomfort to induce the conflict between the populations. First, in the Koran, "Islam people should not eat pork." I thought it would not eat it have been written. But, Results of investigation for Islam, not only doctrine aspects, it has been found that giving the environmental factors influence.
After an assignment
Based on the previous lesson time to learned the theoretical point of view, it was an opportunity to be able to learn about the religion of the function. Moreover, it was possible through the challenge to know to various religions. In conclusion, I have been realized that religion is a relationship that can not be separated from the society. I was expected What to learn in the next lesson.
