In this week, we studied sociology so fast.
We learned culture! It was so amazing. When the time goes by? I don’t believe
that…. Anyway, let’s start my sociology cause story…
March 16th, we learned ‘theoretical
perspectives’ and ‘Culture’(just little bit) That is many things. Structural functionalism,
conflict paradigm, symbolic interactionism, and feminist paradigms and so on. Many
kind of this, I was interesting in social network theory. Social network theory
is beyond the structure and actors dychtomy, and focus on the analysis of the
relationship between them. I watched a social network diagram displaying
friendship ties between a set of Facebook uses. It looked like galaxy. I thought
it was really nice thing that people communicated in internet freely and made their
big data. We discussed that instructor in the classroom has the power to decide
your grade how does this power inequality influence your behavior in the
classroom?
Our team thought the attendance. We thought
that if instructor doesn’t care about attendance, any students care about
attendance.
March 17th, we learned more
about ‘culture’, ‘Belief’ and subculture and deviance. Culture has many
definitions. (It seems equal sociology. Many definitions – this is my personal
thinking….) Turner said Culture is systems of symbols that human create and use
to guide behavior, interaction and patterns of social organization. I thought it
was nice definition. I was interesting in ‘subculture’. Subculture is a group
of people within a culture (whether distinct or hidden) which differentiates
them from the large culture to which they belong. It is including university
culture, punk style, and haker…. I thought it was independence thing. because they
are characteristic each other. We discussed that “can we think of any examples
how technology has changed our culture?” In 1970s our country, it was illegal
that women wear miniskirt and men has long hair. This was our team subject. It’s
really fun.
I want to quest many questions Pitor in the
course. But I didn’t do that. Because It was really hard to understand the
course. I really want to good at English… say good luck for me.
1. i think many different sociology theories can explane society in various view. So they can supplement each other. Just on theory can't explane all phenomenon of society.
ReplyDelete2.Inequality between teacher and students can affect in good way or bad way. Strong point of inequality between teacher and students is that teacher can have control of students easily so teacher can make student concentrate on classes. In other words, weak point of inequality is that students can lost their interest of class by pressure.
I also think social network theory is very interesting in terms of example of Facebook. About first topic I also thought because of power inequality in class students attend class and pay attention to teacher's lecture. And about second topic our group also thought mini skirt is now common different from past.
