What is Sociology? 이진혁(Lee Jin Hyeok)

On March 3, I learned first lecture of Invitation to Sociology. Because this lecture only use in english, I worried about chasing lesson contents. But this class consisted of discussions with friends and consisted of pleasant atmosphere. So that was fun.

What is Sociology? I had vaguely known before Invitation to Sociology lecture. Through brief discussions, I become understood a little bit of sociology. In this class, we received two kinds of discussion topics. First topic is  'Why does fashion change?'.  Second topic is 'Why is Starcraft so popular in Korea?'. I`m going to write about these two topics.

First of all, Why does fashion change? when I received this question, I had much deep thoughts with my three colleagues. I think that fashion is led by celebrities and upper class people. people imitate fashion of humans who upper class then them. Because human have mind that becoming looks like celebrities and upper classes. As a result, Our team made a similar conclusion to this.

 

Secondly, Why is Starcraft so popular in Korea? Although I can`t play this game, I know that popularity of this game in Korea. Starcraft contributed that trigger of birth of pro gaming league in Korea. Appearing TV channel for Starcraft, Starcraft naturally began to spread in popularity. What people able to easily access to Starcraft in television is reason of what is starcraft so popular in Korea.

Society is a group of people related to each other through persistent social relations. Sociology is seems to scholarship that learn about study of this society. through first Invitation to Sociology lecture, I became aware of what is sociology. I thought sociology is very boring scholarship before this lecture. Now I will try to have an interest in sociology.
